Presented by the Muholi Art Institute, EMBODYING #HER is a thought-provoking international group exhibition with an accompanying programme of talks and performances. Co-curated by artist and visual activist Zanele Muholi and cultural producer Beathur Mgoza Baker, and showcasing the work of established and emerging women-identifying and queer artists, the exhibition explores critical themes related to the body politic, the body beautiful, gender discourses and new visual narratives around representation.

 

Participating artists include:

Zanele Muholi, Thania Petersen, Bianca Batlle Nguema, Va Bene Fiatsi, Nobukho Nqaba, Nandipha Jantjies, Claudie Titty Dimbeng, Haneem Christian, Mercy Moyo, Chinwe Chigbu, Lulu Mhlane, Sylvia Albert Sopale, Nothando Chiwanga, Qubeka Beading Collective.

 

The exhibition opens on Friday, 17 February at 18:00 with a live art performance by Spanish-Guinean theatre director and cultural activist, Sylvia Albert Sopale at 19:00

The events programme starts on Saturday, 18 February.
