Aspire Art is excited to announce that we will be hosting the 2025 The Rust-en-Vrede Gallery + Clay Museum Portrait Award travelling exhibition.
The Rust-en-Vrede Gallery + Clay Museum Portrait Award, started in 2013, is a major biennial event on South Africa’s art calendar. This year, from 635 entries nationwide, 100 works were selected, with the Top 40 travelling exhibition shown in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and Bloemfontein. The top three winners are Malik Mani (Overall Winner, Northern Cape), Ashley Ogilvy (Second, Western Cape), and Joseph Dolby (Third, Western Cape), with Mani’s winning portrait ‘Mask’ being the first to win in a drawing medium.
At Aspire Art, we believe in supporting and celebrating the breadth of artistic talent in South Africa. The Portrait Award provides a powerful national platform for artists to explore identity, representation and expression through portraiture —the most enduring and human-focused genres of art.
